Carrington Place is a residential apartment community on a 3.2 ha site at 36 Carrington Road Castle Hill, opposite the recently completed Hills Showground Metro Station and rail line. Located on the western banks of Cattai Creek at Castle Hill, Carrington Place comprises some 771 apartments in seven 8-12 storey buildings.
The project was designed by Stanisic Architects and Tony Owen Partners. Apartments are available in one, two and three-bedroom layouts, as well as premium two-and three-bedroom apartments with home offices, flexible living layouts, generous living areas and balconies. Stanisic Architects contributed to architectural design, design refinement and peer review of the entire project.
The project creates a sustainable urban community with extensive ground level and rooftop recreational facilities. Each building will achieve a minimum 6-star NATHERS rating.
The Carrington Place Masterplan emphasises the connection of the development to Cattai Creek, the main green corridor of the precinct. Buildings fronting Cattai Creek feature curvilinear building forms that refer to the nearby creek in the Riparian Zone.
The façades of buildings are based on the following design principles: modulation, articulation, materiality and shading.
The buildings are modulated with an urban framework. A 4 storey podium is used to create pedestrian scale and 8 storey datum creates a strong break to the 12 storey buildings. The facades of the 8 and 12 storey buildings to Ashford Avenue frame views and outlook. Buildings are designed to respond to orientation and outlook.
The building design focuses on diversity through architectural expression and materials to reduce bulk and mass. A range of materials such as precast concrete spandrels, face brick walls and metal cladding are used. The lower facades have dark face bricks with contrasting materials for upper levels. The façade above level 8 datum has a lighter character, less articulated, simpler and more recessive utilising aluminium sliding perforated panels with powdercoat finishes.
Sun shading is provided with light shelves, sliding perforated aluminium sliding screens, louvre panels and internal roller blinds.
Construction is planned to begin in Q1-2024 with the first stage due for completion in Q3-2025. The entire five-stage precinct is due for completion in 2032.
